Materialism in life

I hear a lot about the materialistic aspects of life. They are important but material needs are more important in life? I think..we tend to focus more on material dimensions of life. These are important in many respects. Having said...that why is it making us inhumane with each other? Isn’t it suppose to make us better person...or just care about our interests by becoming self centred. It is okay to ensure our well being. But If it is achieve at expense of you turning into a bad person. The material and spiritual aspects both matter....to have a contented life. When everything revolves around material dimensions of life.You lose contact with your spiritual needs as human being. You become more satisfied...when there is a balance between material and spiritual dimensions of our lives.
